CHLOROPLASTS vs. FOOD COURT

SIMILARITIES!

The chloroplast contains chlorophyll which are essential for plant cells to produce starch via photosynthesis. This is similar to the food centres in the Airport as they provide the passengers and workers with food for their meals.

Therefore, these food centres play an important role in satisfying the nutrient required by the people at the Airport, akin to the chlorophyll in the chloroplast performing photosynthesis in order to satisfy the cell’s needs.

DIFFERENCES!

The chloroplast contains chlorophyll can only photosynthesize and produce food during the day where there is the presence of sunlight. However, a food court in the airport can operate from morning till night and even up to 24 hours!

As for cells containing chloroplasts, only one type of food is produced (Glucose) while a variety of food (not only food containing starch can be found in the airport. Such examples include proteins and lipids (other food groups).

Moreover, there are chemical reactions taking place within the cell during photosynthesis whereby carbon dioxide and water is being converted into glucose and oxygen when there is solar energy from the Sun while no chemical reactions (or any other time of reaction) is needed for humans to purchase their food from the food court.
